I was sorry to read of the health-related challenges that you experienced during the Fall 2020 term. I have reviewed your appeal to drop ECON 111, BIOL 300, BIOL 330, and BIOL 339 (Fall 2020) past the academic deadline and after careful consideration, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this appeal based on the information supplied by your QSAS Advisor regarding the health issues that you reported experiencing in November of 2020. I am hopeful that you are able to focus on your health while completing a reduced course load for the current Winter term but need to warn you that the appeals process is not meant to be used to manage a chronic condition. An appeal based on the same circumstances may not be granted in the future. Going forward, you should pause to evaluate the impact of your health on your studies during week 7 of the term. If you have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, you should drop the course by week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the €œImportant Dates€ section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
