I was sorry to read in your letter of appeal the challenges you outlined and I have carefully considered your appeal to drop DEVS 105 (W 2021) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.
I have granted this appeal based on your proactive search for assistance and support which you outlined in your letter of appeal. I encourage you to consider registering with QSAS in the future if ongoing accommodations are required. A QSAS Advisor can help implement recommended accommodations that will assist your management of both your health and your academics. It is my expectation that going forward, you will assess your progress in your courses prior to the drop date deadlines. If you find that you have fallen behind in your attendance, readings or assignments, it is your responsibility to drop courses by the deadlines. Appeals for late drops are typically only granted when a problem occurs, or becomes acute, after the drop deadline.
Lauren, I have noticed that you are currently registered in 5 courses during the summer term which is an excessive course load for that timeframe. Appeals to drop courses late when a student registers in such a heavy course load would quite possibly not be granted, so I encourage you to carefully monitor your course work during the summer term and ensure you drop courses by the drop dates.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
