Associate Dean: Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Student Name: Abriella Young
Student Email: abriellayoung@gmail.com

Course: DEVS 250
Term: Winter
Year: 2021
Category: Drop a course after the academic deadline

Dear Abriella Young:

I was sorry to read the circumstances you outlined in your letter of appeal and I have carefully considered your request to drop DEVS 250 (W 2021) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this appeal based on the extenuating circumstances you have described but I need to warn you that any further appeals will require official documentation which confirms your circumstances as well as the impact they are having on your studies. I do however understand that your grandmother€™s illness is difficult to cope with when you are so far away.

Going forward, I strongly encourage you to pause during week 7 of the term and if you have fallen behind in a course or you are not performing in a manner you would like, it is your responsibility to drop the course by the week 8 drop date deadline. Appeals for late drops are typically granted when circumstances arise after the week 8 drop date.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Best of luck with the balance of your courses.

Sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Academic)
