Dear Robert Hughes,

I am sorry to have read of the passing of your Grandmother and want to offer you my condolences. I have carefully considered your appeal to drop PSYC 221 (Winter 2021) after the academic deadline and have decided to grant your request.

I have exercised some leniency in this decision as taking 6 courses in one term is a very heavy course load and choosing to take more than the recommended number of classes does not typically constitute sufficient grounds to appeal to retroactively drop a class after the deadline. However, I acknowledge the challenges that this situation had on your ability to make the decision to drop this course before the March 5, 2021 deadline. Going forward, I suggest that you familiar yourself with the published deadlines at the beginning of each term and make sure that you carefully assess whether you are able to manage your studies along with life challenges before the deadline.
