Category: Drop a course after the academic deadline

Dear Charles Taaffe:

I was sorry to read of the health issues you outlined in your letter of appeal and I have carefully considered your request to drop HIST 106 and HIST 105 (W 2021) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I encourage you to follow through with your plan to assess your health in a couple of months and to continue to work with your health-care team. Going forward, a good practice for all students is to make every effort to inform themselves of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in the Important Dates section on the Arts and Science web page. Students should assess their progress in courses during week 7 or 8 of the term. If they find that they have fallen behind in their attendance, readings or assignments, it is the student€™s responsibility to drop courses by the end of week 8.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Yours sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Academic)
