Dear Osarumwense Omoruna:
I have carefully considered your appeal for an Extension of an Incomplete Grade in ANAT 409 (W20), to drop NSCI 499 (FW 19/20) after the academic deadline, to add NSCI 499 (FW 20/21) after the academic deadline and for Aegrotat Standing in MUSC 171 (F19), ENIN 140 and GEOL 106 (W20). After reviewing your file and the information that I received from your instructor as well as your Department, I have decided the following:
1. To grant your request for an Extension of an Incomplete Grade in ANAT 409 (W20) until the end of the Summer 2021 term at the latest. I acknowledge that this course is a requirement for your degree plan and I strongly encourage you to complete it. It is your responsibility to connect with Professor S. Pang to make the appropriate arrangements.
2. To deny your request to Drop NSCI 499 (FW 19/20) and Add NSCI 499 (FW 20/21) as I am willing to allow you an Extension of an Incomplete Grade in NSCI 499 (FW 19/20) until the end of the Summer 2021 term instead. As this course is also a requirement for your degree plan, I strongly encourage you to complete it. It is your responsibility to connect with Professor M. Kawaja to make the appropriate arrangements.
3. To grant your request for Aegrotat Standing in MUSC 171 (F19). I acknowledge that you were provided an Incomplete Grade in this course and were unable to complete the deferred final exam during the subsequent Winter 2020 term due to the exacerbation of your ongoing health issues at that time. Without this 35 final exam to show how you can demonstrate all of the learning outcomes in this class, your instructor has graciously submitted a replacement grade which will appear on your transcript as an A, along with the notation €œAegrotat: estimated grade€.
4. To deny your request to receive Aegrotat Standing in ENIN 140 and GEOL 106 (W20). Aegrotat estimated standing in a course is reserved for situations in which a student, who has completed and passed at least 60 of the work for a course, but because of illness or other extenuating circumstances beyond his or her control, is unable to complete all the work of the course (see Academic Regulation 6)€. The information that we received from your instructors indicates that you did not complete enough of the required components to have met the learning outcomes in these courses. Also, I can see from your transcript that you were able to complete courses to high standards during the Summer 2020 term. Your appeal fails to explain why you didn€™t connect with your instructors in the Summer term to make arrangements to complete the outstanding work in these courses through deferrals or an Incomplete Grade, especially when your GEOL 106 instructor made multiple attempts to connect with you via email. With the absence of documentation from a professional that verifies that you were not able to complete the outstanding work in ENIN 140 and GEOL 106 during the Summer 2020 term, I am not able to grant your request for Aegrotat Standing at this time.
