I have carefully considered your appeal for Credit Standing in BCHM 310 (FW 2018/2019) and to drop BMED 173 and GPHY 314 (F20) after the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided the following:
1. To grant your request to drop BMED 173 and GPHY 314 (F20). Your grades in these course will be replaced with a €DR€™ notation on your transcript.
2. To deny your request to receive Credit Standing in BCHM 310 (FW 2018/2019). As you know, Academic Regulation 10.3.2. states that, Credit standing in a course is reserved for situations in which a student, who has completed all of the work in the course including the final examination, and achieved a passing grade in the course, but because of illness or other extenuating circumstances beyond their control, earned a substantially lower grade than might have been expected, normally a grade of C or lower.€ Credit standing is only granted in cases where there are well documented and unforeseen extenuating circumstances outside of a student€™s control that are directly related to their academic performance. I am sure this is a disappointing decision but the information we received from your instructor indicates that you were accommodated appropriately throughout this course and your final grade of a B is a fair representation of the learning outcomes that you demonstrated. Osarumwense, let me also remind you that if a student repeats a course, both grades will appear on their transcript but only the higher grade will be included within their cumulative GPA.
