I have exercised significant leniency in this decision since an appeal to drop a course late would normally require documentation. However, I have noted that you recognize that you underestimated the challenges of this course, particularly as a first-year student. Rahul if there are mental health related challenges you may want to take advantage of the confidential services available to our students and reach out to Student Wellness Services for support and assistance. Going forward, I suggest that you carefully review your progress in your courses during week 7 or 8 of the term and assess whether you are actively engaged in your courses and are completing your assignments on time and to the grade level you would like. If not, you should drop courses by the end of week 8 (the drop deadline). Appeals for late drops are generally reserved for those who encounter problems after week 8 or whose problems become more acute after that date.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
