I am sorry to hear that you have had challenges during the term, and I have carefully considered your appeal to drop GPHY 101 (W 2021) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.
I have exercised significant leniency in this decision since an appeal to drop a course late would normally require official documentation. In addition, you registered in six courses which is above our recommended enrolment limit of five courses per term.
However, I understand that COVID related challenges have made this year difficult and I can see that you attempted to seek support from Student Wellness Services. Brady, I encourage you to continue to attempt to meet with a Counsellor from Student Wellness Services for support and assistance or to connect with a Counsellor through your health care provider. You may also want to make yourself aware of the Academic Consideration option which can assist you with short term accommodations/extensions if needed: (https://www.queensu.ca/artsci/search/node/Consideration).
Going forward, I suggest that you carefully review your progress in your courses during week 7 or 8 of the term and assess whether you are actively engaged in your courses and are completing your assignments on time and to the grade level you would like. If not, you should drop courses by the end of week 8 (the drop deadline). Appeals for late drops are generally reserved for those who encounter problems after week 8 or whose problems become more acute after that date.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
