Category: Drop a course after the academic deadline
Dear Sarah Cornish:
I am sorry to read in your letter of appeal that you had a difficult Fall term and I have carefully considered your appeal to drop PHYS 206, PHYS 242 and MATH 221 (F 2020) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.
I have granted this appeal based on your active involvement with your health care team as well as your recent registration with QSAS who will help you manage both your health and your academics. It is my expectation that, once you are registered with QSAS, you will assess your progress in your courses with your QSAS Advisor during week 7 or 8 of the term. If you find that you have fallen behind in your attendance, readings or assignments, it is your responsibility to drop by the end of week 8. Appeals for late drops are typically only granted when a problem occurs, or becomes acute, after the drop deadline.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
I do encourage you to follow through with your plan to continue to carry a lighter course load and I wish you the best of luck in your degree progression.
Yours sincerely,
Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
