Dear Emma Patton,

I am sorry to have read of the passing of your Grandmother and want to offer you my condolences. I have carefully considered your appeal to drop POLS 392 (W 2021) after the academic deadline and have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this appeal as I acknowledge that bereavement had impacted your mental health and recognize that you were unable to make academic decisions surrounding the Winter term drop deadline in March. Going forward, I am confident that you will carefully evaluate the impact of your health issues on your courses prior to the week 8 drop deadline and that you drop classes if you find that you cannot keep up with their academic demands.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
