Dear Maiya Parker,
I was sorry to have read of your health issues and the impact that they have had on your Winter term classes. I have reviewed your appeal to drop SOCY 275, SOCY 211 and SOCY 227 (Winter 2021) after the academic deadline, and I have decided to grant your request.
I have granted this appeal based on the severity of your extenuating circumstances and the information provided by your health care professional. I was happy to read that you had connected with QSAS would suggest that you consider a reduced course load going forward as required.
Going forward, I am confident that you will pause to evaluate the impact of your health on your studies before the drop deadline during of the term. If you have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, you should consider dropping the course. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the €œImportant Dates€ section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
Yours sincerely,
