Student Name: Dariya MacKay
Student Email: 18dlm2@queensu.ca

Course: ANAT 380
Term: Fall/Winter
Year: 2021
Category: Drop a course after the academic deadline

Dear Dariya Mackay:

I am sorry to have read in your letter of appeal the challenges related to a concussion persisted this term and that you were unable to complete the ANAT 380 course as you had hoped. I have carefully considered your appeal to drop that course past the academic deadline and after reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this appeal based on the severity of your extenuating circumstances but also since you made a good academic decision to drop your winter term 2021 courses so you could focus on your health. I do encourage you to continue to work with your health care team and QSAS who can help you manage both your health and your academics.

As noted previously, going forward, you should pause and evaluate the impact of your health on your studies prior to week 8 of term. The week 8 drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the €œImportant Dates€ section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students at Queen's.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Best of luck in your continued recovery.

Yours sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Academic)
