Course: PHAR100
Term: Winter
Year: 2021
Category: Drop a course after the academic deadline

Dear Michael Babcock:

I am sorry to have read in your letter of appeal that you have had a difficult term due to some health-related challenges and I have carefully considered your appeal to drop PHAR 100 (W 2021) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

Going forward, I suggest you carefully evaluate your progress in your courses during week 7 of the term to assess whether there are circumstances which have arisen that may prevent you from completing the course or if you have fallen behind in your studies. If so, you should drop courses by the week 8 drop date deadline.

Let me also advise you of the Academic Consideration service where a student can request short term accommodations if you require leeway with assignment due dates. Here is the link for information about that process:

https://www.queensu.ca/artsci/undergrad-students/academic-consideration-for-students

I also suggest you consider registering with QSAS if your challenges continue and ongoing accommodations are required. QSAS can help put into place appropriate accommodations to help with both your health and academics.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Best of luck in your recovery.

Sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Academic)
