Dear Kalena Adames,

I was sorry to have read of your ongoing mental health issues and the impact that they have had on your Fall and Winter term courses. I have reviewed your appeal to drop HLTH 270, MICR 270 (Fall 2020) and LLCU 110 (Winter 2021) after the academic deadline, and I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this appeal based on the severity of your extenuating circumstances and your strong academic plan as outlined in your appeal letter. Once you are ready to return to your studies, I am confident that you will pause to evaluate the impact of your health on your classes before the drop deadline of the term. If you have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, you should consider dropping the course. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the €œImportant Dates€ section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
