Dear Carter Smith:
As you know from previous appeal response letters this term, I am sorry that your family€™s home was lost to a fire. Carter, I have carefully considered your appeal to receive Aegrotat Standing in PSYC 203 and COMM 375 (W 2021) and after reviewing your file, I have decided to deny your request.
The information I received from the instructor in PSYC 203 notes that there were two missing assignments (Assign 1 and Assign 2) which presumably were due well before the fire on April 3rd. Since both instructors have kindly agreed to accept your outstanding requirements over the summer, I cannot see any reason why that is not possible based on your circumstances and current living situation. I strongly encourage you to contact your instructors at your earliest convenience to make the appropriate arrangements to complete the course requirements.
If you wish to appeal the Associate Dean€™s decision to the Board of Studies, information and deadlines can be found at www.queensu.ca/artsci/students-at-queens/academic-appeals (click on €œBoard of Studies€). Do not use the on-line application for this process. You may contact the Office of the University Ombudsperson for information about student rights and responsibilities as well as guidance on policy and procedure (www.queensu.ca/ombuds).
Best of luck with these courses.
Sincerely,
Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
