Dear Jilles Hammoud:
I was sorry to read of the extenuating circumstances that you have experienced this past year and have carefully considered your appeal to drop ENIN 140, RELS 137 (W21) and SOCY 122 (FW 2020/2021) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.
I have granted this appeal based on the severity of your extenuating circumstances during the Winter term in part related to Covid-19 as well as the devastation that your family has experienced from the Beirut explosion. I was happy to read that you have secured housing for the upcoming Fall term and are looking forward to returning to Kingston. Going forward, I suggest that you assess your progress in your classes prior to week 8 of the of the term so that you can drop courses as needed before the deadline. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the €œImportant Dates€ section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students at Queen's.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
Yours sincerely,
Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
