Dear Christian Alava:

I was sorry to read of the challenges you have outlined in your letter of appeal, and I have carefully considered your request to drop ASTR 101 (W 2021) past the academic deadline and receive Credit standing in PSYC 100 (FW 2020/21). After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request. Your grade PSYC 100 will appear on your transcript as CR.

I have granted the appeal for Credit standing in PSYC 100 based on the circumstances surrounding the exam situation and have granted the late drop in ASTR 101 due to the challenges you outlined regarding your ADD. However, I need to warn you that the appeals process is not meant to be used to manage ongoing problems. The Appeal process is designed for students who encounter problems, or whose problems become acute, after the drop deadline. Instead, I would encourage you to work with your Counsellor and your QSAS Advisor who can help you manage both your ADD and your academics. This could include taking a lighter course load and would include evaluating the impact of your health on your studies prior to week 8 of term.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Yours sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Academic)
