Dear Katie Rattray:

I was sorry to read of the difficulties you experienced during past academic year related to your ongoing disability. I have carefully considered your appeal to receive Credit standing in PSYC 236 (Fall 2020) and DRAM 205 (Winter 2021). After reviewing your file, I have decided to deny your request.

As you know, Academic Regulation 10.3.2. states that, Credit standing in a course is reserved for situations in which a student, who has completed and passed all of the work of the course including the final examination, but because of illness or other extenuating circumstances beyond their control, earned a substantially lower grade than might have been expected, normally a grade of C or lower€. The integrity of Arts and Science transcripts in general would be greatly diminished if the Faculty were to effect changes to students€™ records without clear and compelling reasons indicating that the student€™s performance was significantly compromised by extenuating circumstances beyond his or her control.

I understand that this is a disappointment decision however, the information that we received from your instructors indicate that you did not complete all of the components in these classes and so do not meet the requirements for Credit Standing as defined in the Academic Regulations. Also, your documentation doesn€™t confirm any worsening severity or impact of your extenuating circumstances during the timelines of the missed components in these classes. Going forward, I suggest that you continue to work with your QSAS Advisor throughout each term so that your accommodations can be adjusted if needed in the future.
