Dear Sabine Joseph:
I am sorry to have read in your letter of appeal that COVID 19 impacted your studies during the Winter term 2020 and I have reviewed your appeal to change the grade you received in CHEE 302 (W 2020) to Credit standing now that you have completed the course. After careful review of your file, I have decided to grant your appeal. Your grade in this course will appear on your transcript as CR.
I would like to note that I have exercised some leniency in this decision, acknowledging the challenges of that term, but future appeals will require documentation which would help support the timeline, severity, and impact that your extenuating circumstances had on your studies.
Going forward, I suggest that you pause and evaluate your progress in your courses during week 7 of the term and if you have fallen behind in your course work or are struggling with your academics, you should drop courses by the week 8 drop date deadline.
I also encourage you to utilize the various services available to you including academic supports from SASS and personal counselling services available through our Student Wellness Services.
Best of luck in your degree progression.
Sincerely,
Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
