Decision Letter
Appeal Number: 7854
Decision Date: June 17, 2021
Associate Dean: Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Student Name: Neha H Haider
Student Email: 18nh20@queensu.ca
Course: SOCY 210
Term: Fall
Year: 2020
Category: Drop a course after the academic deadline
Dear Neha:
I was sorry to read in your letter of appeal the health-related circumstances you outlined, and I have carefully considered your appeal to drop SOCY 210 (F 2020) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.
I have granted this appeal based on the circumstances outlined as well as your documentation, but I suggest that you discuss with your health care provider the possibility of registering with QSAS if your challenges will be ongoing. QSAS can assist you with implementing accommodations and will help you manage both your health and your academics.
Neha, going forward, a good practice for all students is to carefully assess your progress in your courses during week 7 of the term. If you find that you have fallen behind in your attendance, readings, or assignments, it is your responsibility to drop courses by the end of week 8.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
Best of luck in your degree progression.
Yours sincerely,
Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
