I am sorry to have read about the challenges you faced during the Winter 2021 term and have carefully considered your appeal for Credit Standing in BIOL 206 (W21). After reviewing your file I have decided to deny your request.
As you know, Academic Regulation 10.3.2. states that, Credit standing in a course is reserved for situations in which a student, who has completed and passed all of the work of the course including the final examination, but because of illness or other extenuating circumstances beyond their control, earned a substantially lower grade than might have been expected, normally a grade of C or lower€. The integrity of Arts and Science transcripts in general would be greatly diminished if the Faculty were to effect changes to students€™ records without clear and compelling reasons indicating that the student€™s performance was significantly compromised by extenuating circumstances beyond his or her control.
I acknowledge that you were impacted by COVID-19 related circumstances near the end of the Winter 2021 term, yet the information that I received from your instructors shows that you had already failed some components of this course before this time period. Also, the documentation that you supplied indicates that you were unable to attend school on April 22, 2021 which was 5 days before the final exam in BIOL 206. I understand that this is a disappointing decision however with the absence of documentation from a professional that can confirm an impact of extenuating circumstances that corresponds with your lower grades in this course, I cannot grant your request for Credit Standing at this time.
