I am sorry to have read about your ongoing health issues and have carefully considered your appeal to drop DEVS 492 (Winter 2021) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to deny your request.
As you know, courses must be dropped on SOLUS within the published deadlines. The Academic Regulations (Appeal of Academic Decisions, IIIb) stress that exceptions to this will only be waived under extenuating circumstances. The integrity of Arts and Science transcripts in general would be greatly diminished if the Faculty were to effect changes to students€™ records without clear and compelling documentation indicating that the student€™s performance was significantly compromised by circumstances beyond his or her control.
I acknowledge that you may not have required accommodations in this class at the beginning of the Winter term but I want to remind you that it is the student€™s responsibility to connect with their instructor as soon as a need for accommodations becomes apparent. I am certainly sympathetic to your situation and realize that this is a disappointing decision, but the appeals process is not meant to manage a chronic condition. Going forward, I strongly suggest that you present your Letter of Accommodation to your instructors at the beginning of the term so that you can receive the appropriate support when needed.
