Associate Dean: Jill Atkinson, Ph.D.
Student Name: Dion Gilbert
Student Email: 21ddg1@queensu.ca

Course: PSYC100
Term: Summer
Year: 2021
Category: Drop a course after the academic deadline

Dear Dion Gilbert:

I am sorry to have read of the circumstances you have reported in your letter of appeal, and I have carefully considered your request to drop PSYC 100 (S 2021) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have exercised significant leniency in this decision since an appeal to drop a course late would normally require documentation. However, I have noted that you recognize that you do need to put in place suitable accommodations in the future to address your disorder and I strongly encourage you to do so by registering with QSAS. A QSAS Advisor can help put into place accommodation which will assist you with both your health and academics.

Going forward, I suggest that you carefully review your progress in your courses prior to the drop dates deadlines and assess whether you are actively engaged in your courses and are completing your assignments on time as well as to the grade level you desire. If not, you should drop courses by the drop deadline. Appeals for late drops are generally reserved for those who encounter problems after that deadline date or whose problems become more acute.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Yours sincerely,

Jill Atkinson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Academic)
