Decision Letter
Appeal Number: 8043
Decision Date: August 16, 2021
Associate Dean: Jill Atkinson, Ph.D.
Student Name: Mingyuan Liu
Student Email: 18ml28@queensu.ca
Dear Mingyuan Liu:
Your request to apply for more than 6.0 units on an International Letter of Permission during the Fall 2021 term has been approved on behalf of the Associate Dean (Academic).
As you know, Regulation 14.4 indicates that ??normally the last two years of the Honours degree are taken in the Faculty of Arts and Science at Queen??s.? However, after reviewing your file and the support that you received from your department, we will allow you to request up to 9.0 units of courses from Shanghai Jiao Tong University along with a maximum of 15.0 units of Queen??s courses for the upcoming the Fall 2021 term.
Please know that 24.0 units per term is a very heavy course load. If you find that this is more than you can handle, please be sure to drop courses by the published deadlines. Choosing to take more than the recommended number of units per term does not constitute sufficient grounds to appeal to retroactively drop a class after the deadline.
You may now apply for an International Letter of Permission through the International Programs Office. We would strongly suggest that you remain closely connected with this office so that you can be made aware of potential disruptions to your international studies if they shall happen.
Note that official transcripts with final grades must be received by the International Programs office upon completion of the courses. Please keep in mind that you must achieve a minimum grade of C on each course taken on a Letter of Permission, unless stated otherwise.
Finally, please be advised that you are allowed to complete a maximum of 57.0 transfer units towards your BA Honours degree (see Academic Regulation 16.1.3) with no more than 24.0 transfer units counting towards ECON Major Plan.
We wish you well in your international studies.
On behalf of
Jill Atkinson, Ph.D.
