Dear Harvey Doniego:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop PSYC 251 (S21) past the academic deadline and after reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I commend you for connecting with Student Wellness Services in July for professional help but going forward, you should pause to evaluate the impact of your health issues on your studies before the drop deadline in Week 8 each term. If you have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, you should drop the course at that time. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the ??Important Dates? section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students. In general, an appeal would be successful when there are significant unexpected extenuating circumstances, which would merit the waiving of an academic regulation. Future appeals for the same extenuating circumstances may not be as successful.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
