I was sorry to read in your letter of appeal the challenges you outlined which appear to be exacerbated by COVID 19. I have carefully considered your appeal to drop HIST 105 (W 2021) and POLS 110 (FW 2020/21) past the academic deadline, as well as receive Credit standing in CLST 103 (W 2021) and SOCY 122 (FW 2020/21). After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request. Your grades in CLST 103 and SOCY 122 will appear on your transcript as CR.
Mikeal, I have granted this appeal based on the circumstances you outlined and your documentation but going forward you will be responsible for managing the impact circumstances have on your academics proactively and not after the fact via the appeal process. Additionally, I encourage you to carefully evaluate your progress in each of your courses prior to the drop date deadline in Week 8 and, if you have fallen behind or you are not performing in a course to your satisfaction, you should drop courses by the deadline. Appeals based on the same circumstances may not be granted in the future.
Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop date deadline is our Academic Consideration service. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or had to miss a class. Here is the link for information about that process:
