Dear Joseph Ajisegiri:

I am sorry to hear that you have had challenges during the current term, and I have carefully considered your appeal to drop PSYC 271 (S 2021) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have exercised significant leniency in this decision since having to undergo routine health tests for immigration purposes is not considered a serious extenuating circumstance. The testing is predictable and within your control, however, because you are new to Queen??s and to our regulations, we will grant your request this time. Should you take courses again at Queen??s as a visiting student, you should carefully review your progress in your courses prior to the drop date deadlines and assess whether you are actively engaged in your courses and are completing your assignments on time and to the grade level you would like. If not, you should drop courses by the drop deadline.

Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop date deadline is our Academic Consideration service. A??student can request short term??consideration??if they need more time to complete an assignment or had to miss a class due to illness or other personal circumstances. Here is the link for information about that process:??

Joseph, I suggest you contact Arts and Science Online to discuss your student status since you are currently a ?Visiting Student??. You can reach that office at asc.online@queensu.ca or call 613-533-3322.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Yours sincerely,

Jill Atkinson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Academic)
