Decision Letter
Appeal Number: 8082
Decision Date: September 17, 2021
Associate Dean: Jill Atkinson, Ph.D.
Student Name: Brooklyn Bastarache
Student Email: 16bsb1@queensu.ca
Course: SOCY 388
Term: Winter
Year: 2021
Category: Drop a course after the academic deadline
Dear Brooklyn Bastarache:
I have carefully considered your appeal to drop SOCY 388 (Winter 2021) past the academic deadline and I have decided to grant your request.
I have granted this appeal based on the severity of your extenuating circumstances as well as the proactive steps that you had taken by connecting with Student Wellness Services through the Winter term. I encourage you to continue to work with your counsellor to help you manage the impact of your health on your academics.
Going forward, I suggest that you evaluate your academic progress during week 7 of the term and make sure to drop courses that you have fallen behind in or find the material too difficult in by week 8 of the term. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the ??Important Dates? section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
Best of luck with your ongoing recovery.
Yours sincerely,
Jill Atkinson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Academic)
