Dear Kaitlyn Fung:

I am sorry to have read in your letter of appeal that you were ill during your STAT 263 (W 2021) exam, and I have reviewed your appeal to change the grade you received in that course to Credit standing. After careful consideration of your appeal and the information I received from your instructor, I have decided to grant your appeal. Your grade in this course will appear on your transcript as CR.

In the future, if this happens again, you should stop the exam and email the professor immediately. Then you would write a deferred exam when you are able to perform to the best of your abilities. We do not want students writing exams when ill.

Going forward, a good practise for all student is to pause and evaluate your progress in your courses during week 7 of the term and if you have fallen behind in your course work or are struggling with your academics, you should drop courses by the week 8 drop deadline.

Another tool to manage your academics is our Academic Consideration service. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment, had to miss a class, or postpone an exam due to extenuating circumstances.
