I have carefully considered your appeal to receive Credit standing in ENIN 400 (Summer 2021). After reviewing your file, I have decided to deny your request.
As you know, Academic Regulation 10.3.2. states that, Credit standing in a course is reserved for situations in which a student, who has completed and passed all of the work of the course including the final examination, but because of illness or other extenuating circumstances beyond their control, earned a substantially lower grade than might have been expected, normally a grade of C or lower?. The integrity of Arts and Science transcripts in general would be greatly diminished if the Faculty were to effect changes to students?? records without clear and compelling reasons indicating that the student??s performance was significantly compromised by extenuating circumstances beyond their control.
While your appeal letter reports that you experienced an unexpected extenuating circumstance that prevented you from being able to participate in the live pitch presentation, you didn??t notify your instructor of your absence in advance nor did you submit a request for Academic Consideration related to this occurrence. I understand that this is a disappointing decision, but as you did not complete all of the components in ENIN 400 including the live pitch presentation, that you are not eligible for Credit Standing in this course. If your extenuating circumstance is related to a disability for which you are receiving ongoing accommodations through Queen??s Student Accessibility Services (QSAS), I would be happy to reconsider this decision upon receiving documentation from your Accessibility Advisor.
