I am sorry to read in your letter of appeal that you have encountered challenges this term. I have carefully considered your appeal to drop PHIL 259 (F 2021) past the academic deadline and after reviewing your appeal, I have decided to grant your request.
I have exercised significant leniency in this decision, acknowledging the challenges you have been facing. Normally I would require documentation to support the severity and impact those circumstances are having on you Ali, and you should note that financial related challenges are not typically considered extenuating in nature.
Going forward you will be responsible for managing the impact of your challenges on your academics proactively and not after the fact via the appeal process. I encourage you to carefully evaluate your progress in each of your courses prior to the drop deadline and if you have fallen behind or you are not performing in the course to your satisfaction, you should drop courses by the week 8 drop deadline.
Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop deadline is our Academic Consideration service. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or had to miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances.
