Dear Alexander Traynor:
I am sorry to have read the challenges you reported in your letter of appeal and I understand that you are seeking Credit standing in ECON 222 and ECON 212 (S 2021) due to the impact those circumstances had on these courses. After reviewing your file, I have decided to deny your request.
As you know, Academic Regulation 10.3.2. states that, Credit standing in a course is reserved for situations in which a student, who has completed all of the work in the course including the final examination, and achieved a passing grade in the course, but because of illness or other documented extenuating circumstances beyond their control, earned a substantially lower grade than might have been expected. The integrity of Arts and Science transcripts in general would be greatly diminished if the Faculty were to effect changes to students?? records without documentation to support the extenuating circumstances reported.
Alexander, the documentation you have provided does not support the onset, severity and limitations you experienced due to the circumstances outlined. Going forward, as has been noted in previous appeal decision letters, I suggest that you inform yourself of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in the Important Dates section on the Arts and Science web page. Please pause in Week 7 to assess your progress in your courses, whether you are keeping up with the readings, have achieved passing grades and are on track to complete remaining assignments on time. If you find that you have fallen behind in your course work or are not happy with the grades earned in your courses by that date, it is your responsibility to drop by the drop deadline. Late drops are reserved for situations in which a new, or acute condition occurs after the drop deadline.

Student Academic Appeals Policy (SAAP) or Rules of Procedure for USAB are Queen??s university Senate approved appeal policies. In the event that an inconsistency arises between these policies and Arts & Science regulations, SAAP and USAB will supersede.
