Dear Victoria Morency:
I have carefully considered your appeal to drop CHEM 112, MATH 121, PHYS 117 (FW2017/2018), PSYC 271 (F18), PSYC 204 (W19), SOCY 122 (FW 2018/2019), BIOL 243 and PSYC 251 (F19) after the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.
I have granted this appeal based on the severity of your extenuating circumstances and because you have connected with the appropriate health care supports and are engaged in treatment. Going forward, I encourage you to evaluate your academic progress during Week 7 of the term and make sure to drop courses that you have fallen behind in, or in which you find the material too difficult, by the Week 8 drop deadline. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the ??Important Dates? section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students.
I also suggest that you consider registering with Queen??s Accessibility Services (QSAS) so that you can work with an accommodation advisor to help manage the impact of your health on your academics.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
Best of luck with your ongoing recovery.
Yours sincerely,
Jill Atkinson, Ph.D.
