Dear Alexandra Krug-Mushey:

I am sorry to have read in your letter of appeal that you have had a difficult term and I have carefully considered your appeal to drop MICR 3160 and BCHM 315 (F 2021) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this appeal based on the??documentation provided which notes that you are participating in a residential program which is offering you support as you manage your health-related challenges. Going forward you will be responsible for managing the impact of your condition on your academics proactively and not after the fact via the appeal process. I encourage you to carefully evaluate your progress in each of your courses during week 7 and if you have fallen behind or you are not performing in the courses to your satisfaction, you should drop courses by the week 8 drop deadline.

Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop date is our Academic Consideration service. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or had to miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances. Alexandra, I strongly encourage you continue to work with your health care team and to proactively manage the impact of your condition on your academics. If this is a chronic condition, please talk to your counsellor about the possibility of registering with QSAS. A QSAS??Advisor??can help put into place appropriate accommodations to help you manage the impact of your health on your academics.??
