Dear Meryum Mohammed:
I am sorry to read in your letter of appeal that you have encountered challenges related to flooding in your room. I have carefully considered your appeal to drop CHEM 312 and CHEM 313 (W 2021) past the academic deadline and after reviewing your appeal, I have decided to grant your request.
I have exercised some leniency in this decision, acknowledging the challenges you have been coping with, but going forward you will be responsible for managing the impact that circumstances are having on your academics proactively and not after the fact via the appeal process. I encourage you to carefully evaluate your progress in each of your courses prior to week 7 and if you have fallen behind or you are not performing in the courses to your satisfaction, you should drop courses by the week 8 drop deadline.
Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop date is our Academic Consideration service. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or had to miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances.
