I am sorry to have read of the challenges you experienced during Winter term 2020 and I have carefully considered your appeal to receive Aegrotat Standing in GNDS 125 (W 2020) based on those circumstances. After reviewing your file I have decided to deny your request.
Academic Regulation 10.3.1. states that, Aegrotat estimated standing in a course is reserved for situations in which a student, who has completed and passed at least 60% of the work for a course, but because of illness or other extenuating circumstances beyond his or her control, is unable to complete all the work of the course (see Academic Regulation 6)?. Aegrotat standing is only granted in cases where there are well documented and unforeseen extenuating circumstances outside of a student??s control and the learning outcomes of the course have been satisfied.
The information we received from your instructors advised that your final grade is based on the completion of 20% of the course work and 20% participation which causes me to question whether the learning outcomes were achieved. I am however willing to extend an Incomplete grade if Professor Baba is willing to accept the outstanding paper. You should discuss that option with Professor Baba directly. I would be willing to accept a grade change, if you do submit that outstanding paper, up until the end of April 2022.
