Dear Ethan Brooks:

I was sorry to read of the challenges you outlined in your letter of appeal, and I have carefully considered your request to drop CISC 121 and STAT 263 (Fall 2021) after the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this appeal based on the severity of your circumstances as well as the steps that you have taken to connect with appropriate health care supports. Once you return to your studies, I suggest that you consider registering with QSAS so that you can work with an Accessibility Advisor to help you manage the impact of your health on your academics going forward. I also suggest that you evaluate your academic progress during week 7 of the term and make sure to drop courses that you have fallen behind in or find the material too difficult in by week 8 of the term. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the ??Important Dates? section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Yours sincerely,

Jill Atkinson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Academic)
