Course: ANAT 215
Term: Fall
Year: 2021
Category: Drop a course after the academic deadline

Dear Xuanqi Wang:

I was sorry to read that you have experienced a difficult circumstance related to your health as well as ANAT 215 which has impacted your studies in that course. Based on your letter and your documentation, I will grant your appeal to drop ANAT 215 (F 2021) past the academic deadline.

Xuanqi, I encourage you to continue to work with your health professionals and if ongoing accommodation is needed in the future, you may want to register with QSAS. A QSAS Advisor can offer support for both your health and academics. I do understand that your circumstance happened after the drop deadline, but let me just remind you that a good practise for all students is to carefully evaluate progress in courses prior to week 7 and if you have fallen behind or you are not performing in courses to your satisfaction, you should drop courses by the week 8 drop deadline.

Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop date is our Academic Consideration service. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or had to miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances. Here is the link for information about that process:

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Best of luck in your degree progression.

Sincerely,

Jill Atkinson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Academic)
