Dear Alicia Stack:

I was sorry to read of the challenges you outlined in your letter of appeal, and I have carefully considered your request to drop BIOL 103 (W21), CHEM 112, MATH 120, and POLS 110 (FW 2020/2021) after the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request which will also remove Faculty ruling that you be Required to Withdraw for One Year.

I acknowledge that this was your first year at Queen??s University and I have granted this appeal based on the severity of your circumstances as well as the steps that you had taken to manage your ongoing health issues. I would suggest that you continue to work with your health care team to help you manage the impact of your health on your academics going forward. Please know that a chronic condition may not be grounds for a future appeal because students are expected to manage these conditions proactively where --possible.

To do this, please evaluate your academic progress during week 7 of the term and make sure to drop courses that you have fallen behind in or find the material too difficult in by week 8 of the term. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the ??Important Dates? section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Best of luck in your continued studies.

Yours sincerely,

Jill Atkinson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Academic)
