I was sorry to read of the challenges you outlined in your letter of appeal and I have carefully considered your request to waive the 21 day appeal deadline. Based on the circumstances outlined and the documentation provided, I will grant your appeal to waive the 21 day appeal deadline as well as grant your request to drop PHIL 367 and PHIL 374 (W 2021) past the academic drop deadline.
Going forward, should you take courses as a post-degree student at Queen??s, you will be responsible for managing the impact of your condition on your academics proactively and not after the fact via the appeal process and should carefully evaluate your progress in each of your courses prior to week 7. If you have fallen behind or you are not performing in the courses to your satisfaction, you should drop courses by the week 8 drop deadline.
Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop date is our Academic Consideration protocol. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or had to miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances.
