I have carefully considered your appeal to drop BCHM 315 and ANAT 215 (F21) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to deny your request.
As you know, courses must be dropped on SOLUS within the published deadlines. The Academic Regulations (Appeal of Academic Decisions, IIIb) stress that exceptions to this will only be waived under extenuating circumstances. The integrity of Arts and Science transcripts in general would be greatly diminished if the Faculty were to effect changes to students?? records without clear and compelling documentation indicating that the student??s performance was significantly compromised by circumstances beyond their control.
I certainly empathize with your situation and am sure this is a disappointing decision however, the documentation that you supplied indicates that you were mildly impacted by an extenuating circumstance beginning on October 15, 2021, before the deadline to drop these courses, and does not comment on how this circumstance directly impacted your academic ability. With the absence of documentation that verifies that you were unable to meet the academic demands of these classes during the two-week timeframe that you reported in your appeal letter, I cannot waive this regulation.
