Dear Caroline,
I was sorry to read in your letter of appeal the circumstances you have outlined, and I am sure that was a difficult time. I have carefully considered your appeal to drop PSYC 100 (Fall/Winter 2020-2021), WRIT 125 (winter 2020), Credit standing PHIL111 and FILM 110 (Fall/winter 2020-2021) and after reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.
I have granted this appeal based on the documentation submitted, particularly these provided by L. Hooke (SWS). The documentation attest to the severe ongoing impairment during the relevant time period and that you did seek care during that time. Going forward you will be responsible for managing the impact of these circumstances on your academics proactively and I encourage you to carefully evaluate your progress in each of your courses prior to the week 8 drop deadline. If you have fallen behind or you are not performing in the course to your satisfaction, you should drop courses by the drop deadline.
Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop date deadline is our Academic Consideration protocol. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or had to miss a class due to a documented extenuating circumstance.
