I am sorry to have read in your appeal letter the challenges you experienced during Fall term and I have reviewed your appeal to change the grade you received in ENGL 161 (F 2021) to Credit standing. After careful consideration of the documentation submitted and the circumstances presented, I have decided to grant your appeal.
Your grade in this course will appear on your transcript as CR.
Evan, I do need to warn you that the appeals process is not meant to be used to manage a chronic condition and if there are linger effects of your illness, you may want to consider registering with QSAS and work with an accommodation advisor to help manage your health and academics. I encourage you to pause and evaluate the impact of your health on your studies prior to week 8 of term. The week 8 drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the ??Important Dates? section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students and to facilitate the timely completion of university studies at Queen's.
Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop deadline is our Academic Consideration protocol. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or had to miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances.
