I am sorry to have read in your letter of appeal of the health-related challenges you outlined which impacted your Fall term courses. I have reviewed your request to change your grades in MATH 384 and ECON 232 (F 2021) to Credit standing and after careful consideration of your file, I have decided to grant your appeal.
Your grade in these courses will appear on your transcript as CR.
I am also willing to Drop ECON 244 late based on the circumstances you have outlined. If you wish to accept this offer, please email asc.appeals@queensu.ca within 21 days and your transcript will be adjusted accordingly.
Linshan, I do need to warn you that the appeals process is not meant to be used to manage a chronic condition. Instead, I encourage you to continue to work with your health care team and to consider registering with QSAS if you have not done so already. A QSAS advisor can help you manage your health and academics.
Going forward, you should pause and evaluate the impact of your health on your studies prior to week 8 of term. The week 8 drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the ??Important Dates? section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students at Queen's.
Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop deadline is our Academic Consideration protocol. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or had to miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances.
