Dear Sophia Sun:

I have carefully considered your appeal to receive Credit standing in PSYC 337 (F21). After reviewing your file, I have decided to deny your request.

I am sympathetic to your situation and understand that this is a disappointing decision however, your appeal letter suggests that you were impacted by extenuating circumstances surrounding the final exam of this course yet the information that I received from your instructor indicates that your grades were not consistent before this time. For example, I see that you achieved a D- on the mid-term exam on October 22, 2021.

I want you to know that the integrity of Arts and Science transcripts in general would be greatly diminished if the Faculty were to effect changes to students?? records without clear and compelling reasons indicating that the student??s performance was significantly compromised by extenuating circumstances beyond their control.

With the absence of documentation that correlates the timeline of an extenuating circumstance with your lower grades in this course, I cannot grant your appeal request.
