I have carefully considered your appeal to waive the 21-day deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to deny your request.
As you know, Academic Regulation 3.2 states that ??Students who have graduated from the Faculty of Arts and Science are not eligible to submit an appeal of any kind after 21 days of their graduation.? The integrity of Arts and Science transcripts in general would be greatly diminished if the Faculty were to effect changes to students?? records without clear and compelling documentation indicating that the student??s performance was significantly compromised by extenuating circumstances beyond their control.
I acknowledge that you were impacted by unexpected health issues during your time at Queen??s University and I want to congratulate you for being able to complete your degree requirements despite these challenges. I am certainly sympathetic to your situation and realize that this is a disappointing decision however, the document that you supplied was dated before you graduated and doesn??t provide any information on the severity and impacts of your extenuating circumstances following that date. With the absence of documentation from a professional to support your reasons for not submitting this appeal within the 21-day deadline, I cannot grant your request.
If you are concerned about the impact that some of your grades have on your cumulative GPA, you may consider returning to your studies and repeating courses. When a student repeats the exact same course, both attempts appear on their transcript but only the higher attempt will be included within their GPA.
