Dear Daniel:

I am sorry to have read in your letter of appeal the circumstances outlined and I have carefully considered your request to drop ITLN 111, ECON 255 and ECON 351 (F 2021) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

Going forward, a good practise for all students is to carefully evaluate your progress in courses during week 7 of the term and if you are struggling in your courses or unable to keep up with the course work, you should drop courses by the week 8 drop deadline.

Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop deadline is our Academic Consideration protocol. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or had to miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances. Daniel, I strongly encourage you continue to work with your health professional and to proactively manage the impact of your condition on your academics. If your health issue becomes chronic in nature, please talk to your physician about the possibility of registering with QSAS. A QSAS??Advisor??can help put into place appropriate accommodations to help you manage the impact of your health on your academics.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding.
