Dear Nicole:

I am sorry to read that you struggled to manage this course along with challenges related to your health and COVID19. I have carefully considered your appeal to drop FILM 341 (W 2022) past the academic deadline and after reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

This is a somewhat lenient decision Nicole since carrying six courses during the term exceeds our recommended maximum course load of five courses, but I have decided to grant this appeal based on your extenuating circumstances and documentation. Going forward, I encourage you to pause and evaluate your progress in courses during week 7 of each term, and if you have fallen behind or there are extenuating circumstances impacting your studies, you should drop courses by the week 8 drop deadline.

Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop deadline is our Academic Consideration protocol. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or had to miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances.
