Dear Neha:

I was very sorry to read in your letter of appeal the circumstances you outlined and I have carefully considered your appeal to drop FILM 240, PHIL 314 (F 2021) and SOCY 227 (W 2022) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this appeal based on the circumstances outlined as well as your documentation. I was pleased to see that you are now registered with QSAS who can assist you with implementing accommodations and will help you manage both your challenges and your academics.

Going forward, you should carefully assess your progress in your courses during week 7 of the term. If you find that you have fallen behind in your attendance, readings or assignments, it is your responsibility to drop courses by the end of week 8. Appeals for late drops are typically only granted when a problem occurs, or becomes acute, after the drop deadline. The appeal process is not designed to manage a chronic condition.

Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop date deadline is our Academic Consideration protocol. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or had to miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances.
